neptune trideck EVA Flooring light amplification

Neptune flooring products are designed to provide long-lasting durability in a wide range of temperatures and conditions. However, our warranties do not cover damage caused by light amplification. What is light amplification and how can you avoid it?

EVA Flooring light amplification

Under certain conditions, the damaging effects of sunlight are magnified.

This can occur when highly reflective/ glossy coated surfaces reflect light onto the Neptune Flooring and can cause temperatures to exceed safe operating ranges.

Although Neptune products are tested as safe up to 73° C, prolonged exposure to excessive temperatures can cause ‘sunburn’ damage to the product’s surface even at much lower temperatures.

The potential issues with reflective or refractive surfaces will become clearer if you remember how you can use a magnifying glass to set a piece of paper alight.

Light amplification is an important issue and so please take the time to read and understand the fundamentals of Light Amplification.

Some surfaces are more likely to cause light amplification. These include:

  • Stainless steel or Chrome
  • Gel coats and other highly reflective materials
  • Plastic pool toys
  • Extensive vertical walls

There are some steps you can take to mitigate these features.

  • Avoid placing Neptune flooring around shiny steel surfaces or glass windshields amplifying light
  • Place mitigation pads on vertical surfaces to reduce reflection.
  • Choose lighter colours—less prone to sunburn.

Because sunburn damage is the result of conditions outside of our control, we cannot cover sunburn under our standard warranty.
